Tecnosens is not limited to laser machining and is concerned with all the aspects that can improve the production process for our customers, in which laser cutting is a phase.
We conduct feasibility studies in order to evaluate the effects of cutting on each product and choose the best processing method based on the requests of the customer and the market.
In this example we have a steel cutting application: since laser cutting resulted in a small burr, it meant that it was necessary to identify the best procedure to facilitate its subsequent removal.
One of the added values of our laboratory is our durometer, which is used to assess the different degree of alteration of the material’s hardness.
The cutting quality was equivalent both in oxygen and nitrogen, but we also observed that with oxygen cutting the material hardened more, thus making it more fragile. This fragility, which is normally perceived as a defect, turned out to be an opportunity that benefitted our customer, who managed to remove the abovementioned burr more easily.
