What is laser cleaning and how does it work?

The laser cleaning process ensures the removal, by laser ablation, of contaminants, oxides, coatings, primers from metal surfaces.

Laser cleaning can be used onto surfaces like stainless steel, bronze, copper, and aluminium. It is often used to clean engine parts and molds for thermoplastics and thermosets, for rust removal or paint removal before welding.

Depending on the use case, it is possible to use phototermal or photomechanical applications.

Laser cleaning and traditional methods

Laser cleaning is an effective, fast, economical and eco-friendly process. Unlike traditional methods such as sandblasting or chemical removal, it is damage and residue-free.
