Tin Side System identifies the tin side of a #floatglass using a non-contact #optical technology, available directly for in-line application.
Distortion-free glass is manufactured by floating molten #glass on top of a layer of molten tin. This ensures that the glass is perfectly flat. During this operation a small amount of tin, invisible to the human eye, is absorbed by the side of the glass that is in contact with the tin. This surface of the glass is called “#tinside”.
After the manufacturing of a float glass, it is beneficial to identify its two different surfaces in order to achieve better results during the chosen application (#coating, #blackband printing...)
